Arts on the Run welcomes talented creative people from refugee & migrant backgrounds as well as emerging artists whose practice explores cultural identity, displacement & human rights. We aim to provide development support & opportunity for our artists, within our own network of mentors and fellow creatives, and through links to the broader cultural scene.
Who we are
Arts on the Run produces, collaborates and fundraises in order to welcome and provide a platform for talented creative people from refugee and migrant backgrounds and for emerging artists whose practice explores cultural identity, displacement and human rights.
Art is a universal language and has no borders, so we travel from fine art to music, digital to dance, poetry to performance art, and more.
We produce & curate enabling programmes, creative projects & events, and maintain a vibrant & growing regional network that supports our diverse community of Associate-Artists and links us to cultural, academic & campaign organisations.
'art is a universal language and has no borders'
We value the creative power of the arts to (re)generate community, improve mutual understanding and promote inclusion.
our focus is building capability and stimulating collaboration through innovative creative activity, networking and support programmes, helping individuals and communities make that essential journey from isolation to belonging.
Arts on the Run was constituted in 2009 as a regional response to a national research programme that highlighted the under-representation of talented artists with migrant & refugee backgrounds in the British arts mainstream.
We established ourselves as an artist-led Yorkshire & Humberside community network supporting, developing, commissioning and promoting a growing group of regional artists and their work. In 2016 we became a Foundation Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
